My Story
I am a Culinary Arts graduate from The Institute of Culinary Education in Los Angeles. I have been retired since 2014 from the real estate and financial industries. In 2023, I decided to go back to school to get my culinary arts degree and then earn the title of Chef. Interestingly enough, my muffin and cake business happened by accident. I would often bring my healthier option, olive oil muffins and cakes, to my basketball buddies at Equinox on Friday. One day, I was walking past Magic Johnson and his trainer, and Magic inquired what was in my muffin case. Long story short, I told him of my passion for baking with olive oil, and he was intrigued because he loves olive oil and has a fondness for Italy when he vacations. I gave him a chocolate chip muffin, and he loved it. He then ordered a dozen sugar-free apple spices, and off he went for the weekend. I saw him Monday morning, and he told me he couldn’t wait to tell me how good my muffins were. The texture was perfectly tender, there were good flavors, and most of all, he didn’t feel heavy because of my use of oil instead of butter. I took a selfie with him holding my box of muffins and posted it on Instagram. Within the next 5 days, I received over 25 orders. I call that “The Magic Effect!”
